This is a poem in which the poet Kamala Das suddenly realised that her mother is very old now and she will leave her soon. She has expressed her feelings and emotion in this poem. She compared her mother's face to a dead body/ corpse. But she didn't tell this to her. Here, we knew that ageing, decay and death are very natural in life. With the passage of time, everyone will suffer this. So, it reflects the idea of ageing, decay and death.
