This arrangement has facilitated the development of a system of checks and balances in India. In a system of checks and balances, every organ is given the freedom to check upon the powers of the other two organs thereby, ensuring a balance between all these organs. Here, none of the organs enjoy ultimate power. Therefore, such a form of power sharing arrangement is also referred to as HORIZONTAL FORM OF POWER SHARING.
