Power sharing arrangements also exist between different organs of government especially, legislature, executive and judiciary. This arrangement has facilitated the development of a system of checks and balances in India. In a system of checks and balances, every organ is given the freedom to check upon the powers of the other two organs thereby, ensuring a balance between all these organs. Here, none of the organs enjoy ultimate power. Therefore, such a form of power sharing arrangement is also referred to as HORIZONTAL FORM OF POWER SHARING. For example, despite being appointed by the political executive, judges have the sovereign freedom to supervise the powers of the ministries as well as the legislative bodies.
