Alluvial soil = deposited mostly by three important Himalayan rivers - Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra - and by important southern rivers - Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri. Consists of sand, silt and clay. Contains adequate proportions of phosphoric contents to support the cultivation of crops like Paddy, Wheat and Sugarcane.
