Work done by the force of gravity on an object depends solely on vertical displacement. Vertical displacement is given by the distinction within the initial and final positions/heights of the thing that is zero. We know that, W=mgh W = m g × zero = 0 J       {h= Vertical displacement = zero} ∴ Work done is zero.
