The decomposition of ammonia on Pt- surface, 2NH3 in the presence of Pt and 1130k gives N2 +3H2 is zero order reaction with k=2.5^10^-4 mol per L per s . What are the rates of production of N2 and H2?

The reaction is

Here k = 2.5 × 10-4 M s-1

The order of the reaction is zero i.e.,

Rate = [Reactant]o

Rate = 2.5 × 10-4 × 1 = 2.5 10-4 mol L-1 S-1

The rate of formation of N2 = 2.5 10-4 mol L-1 S-1

Therefore, rate of formation of H2 = 7.5 × 10-4 mol L-1 S-1
