let AB = building on fire

PQ are fire stations at distance =20 km

let PB=x

PBQ are on a straight line

in rt tri PAB tan 60=AB/PB......i

in rt tri QBA   tan 45=AB/QB      ..... ii

root 3 x PB=AB

AB=QB

root 3 =QB/PB=QP - BP/BP=20 - x/x

20 -x = x root3

20=x(root3+1)

x=20/root3+1=20/2.732=7.32 km

BP=7.32

QB=20 - 7.32=12.68 km

building B is near P fire station at a distance of 7.32 km

hence fire station P has to send his team and travel a distance of 7.32 km
