a+(m-1)d=n...case 1 a+(n-1)d=m...case 2 From 1 and 2 (m_n)d=n-m Therefor..d=-1 Putting value of of d in 1 a+(m-1)-1=n a-m+1=n a=n+m-1 :p th term; a+(p-1)d =n+m-1+(p-1)(-1) =n+m-1-p+1 Here..-1 and +1 get cancelled. =n+m-p Hence..pth term =n+m-p.
