A typical angiosperm embryo sac at maturity is known as 7 celled 8 nucleated because, at the time of formation of embryo sac the mitotic divisions are strictly free nuclear i e., nuclear divisions are not followed immediately by cell wall formation. After the 8 nucleate-stage cell wall are laid down leading to the organisation of the female gametophyte or embryo sac. The 6 of the 8 nuclei are surrounded by cell walls and organised into cells, the remaining two nuclei call polar nuclei are situated below the egg Apparatus in large central cell. Thus, it is known as 7 celled and 8 nucleated embryo sac.
