When algae and fungi associate and form lichen ( symbiotic association) , then the algal component is known as phycobiont and the fungal component is called mycobiont.... #DIFFERENCE : - 1.) Phycobiont is autotrophic component. 2.) Mycobiont is heterotrophic component 3.) In this association Algae prepare food for Fungi , and fungi provide shelter and nutrition to algae.
