Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell because they supply power (energy) to all the cell of the body. All living cells have mitochondria (cell organelle), are responsible for producing energy (called ATP) that the cell needs to function. They are like power stations in our bodies, supplying energy to all cells for proper functioning.
