When 2 or more reactants react in a chemical reaction and onlymyhealth 1 product is formed, then the reaction is called an addition reaction.

Unsaturated hydrocarbons add hydrogen in the presence of catalysts such as nickel give saturated hydrocarbons. This is called an addition reaction.
