Functional group - it is a atom or group of atoms which determines the chemical properties present in carbon compound . Ex. Hydroxyl group ( - OH ) , aldehyde (-CHO )etc Homologous series - organic compounds having the same functional group and common properties but the molecular formula is differ by -CH 2 from next member. Ex. Ethene and propene .
