ClF is a inter-halogen compound. The fluorine is in -1 oxidation state and Cl is in +1 oxidation state. ClF can accept electrons because the chlorine has vacant d-orbitals. So, it can react with fluorine to form ClF3. It can act as both lewis acid and lewis base. ClF can act as a Lewis base as in the presence of a strong lewis acid like AsF5 and accepting a fluoride ion from KF. ClF + KF→K+[ClF2]-
