Miss Anne Sullivan was Helen's instructor,teacher sent from Perkins institute for the blind. She was sent to teach Helen, who was deaf and blind. As a teacher, miss Sullivan was extremely patient and tolerant with Helen. She knew the problems a child without sight and hearing must be facing and was aware of the psychology of such a person. She handled Helen sensitively but firmly. When Helen got frustrated and threw tantrums, miss Sullivan dealt each incident in a practical way. She knew that Helen wanted and accordingly taught her to communicate with the people around her. Miss Sullivan made Helen confident by making her self dependent. A teacher like her way not only the guiding force for Helen but a true friend,companoin and a mother like figure. Miss Sullivan's selfless nature, dedication and determination, matched with Helen's eagerness to learn, were the reasons for Helen's wonderful achievements.
