hypotonic-the solution in which the water concentration inside the cell is less than that of its surrounding and cell swells up. Isotonic-the solution in which water concentration is equal inside the cell as well as outside of the cell and the cell suffers no change. Hypertonic-the solution in which cell has more water concentration than that of its surrounding and the cell appears to shrink.
