When committee was set up , Gandhiji Demanded 50% of the compensation but somehow British landlord only agreed to pay the amount of 25% which makes gandhiji agreed, its because for gandhiji money was less important , what important for him was that finally Britisher landlord had surrender , which will boost the courage among the sharecroppers of the champaran.

According to Gandhi ji, the amount of money to repay to the farmers or sharecroppers by British landlords was less important than the forceful asking for the money and desolation of their pride too.
