What is valence band and conductive band?

    Valence band : in the energy band diagram of semiconductors the valence band is a lower band belonging to valence electron of the given crystal. This band may be partially or completely filled. This band is never empty. The electron in this band do not contribute to the electric current. Conduction bend : in the energy band diagram of semiconductor the conduction bend is an upper bend in which electron are not present at 0 k. At room temperature this bend is either empty or partially filled with the electron. These electron contribute to the electric current.
