we can say that state it is the the iron Masters daughter who proves and Angel in in the the peddlers life. when her father comes to know of of his mistake, he at once orders the the peddler to leave his home. but the the daughter at once comes Tu to his rescue. she says that it was none of the peddlers fault. it was only a mistake she makes her father give in .she tries her best to make the poor hungry man feel at home. her kindness and sympathy transforms the peddler completely .while leaving he leaves a small packet for her as a Christmas Present. in it ,there is a small rat trap, free wrinkled 10 krona notes and a letter .the letter says" since you have been nice to me all the day long I want to be nice to you in return...... you can give back the money to the old man on the roadside........ the rattrap is a Christmas Present from a rat who would have been caught in the world's rat trap if he had not been raised to captain."

The Peddler believed in giving back to the world what he received from it. He was always treated with contempt so he never did anything good . However Edla's kind behaviour finally changed him.She had treated him with respect befitting a captain .The trust that Edla showed in him made him change his way and he decided to live with dignity.

He stole money from the crofter and realized he was caught in the rattrap and feels depressed ,edlas kindness and hospitality awakens his cociesnes realizes there was a way out of the trap by returning the money through edla
