Longer side = 36 cm, shorter side = 27 cm.
Distance between the shorter sides = 12 cm.
Let the distance between the longer sides be x cm.
Area of the IIgm
= (longer side {tex}\times{/tex} distance between the longer sides)
= (shorter side {tex}\times{/tex} distance between the shorter sides)
{tex}\therefore{/tex} 36 {tex}\times{/tex} x = 27 {tex}\times{/tex} 12 {tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} x = {tex}\frac { 27 \times 12 } { 36 }{/tex} = 9.
{tex}\therefore{/tex} distance between the longer sides = 9 cm.
