As we know, speed= Distance travelled/Time taken
Suppose a wave travels a distance which is its wavelength in time T,
v = / T
Here T is the time taken by one wave. 1/T becomes the number of waves per second and is known as frequency of the wave.
Thus v = x f
i.e. Speed = Wavelength x Frequency
