It consists of two phases:-<\/p>\n<p>(i)<strong> Dispersed phase<\/strong> : component present in small proportion<\/p>\n<p>(ii) <strong>Dispersion medium<\/strong> : component present in large proportion<\/p>\n<p>The particles of colloid are large enough to scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible. Thus, they show <strong>Tyndall effect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The colloidal particles are moving at random in a zigzag motion in all directions.<\/p>\n<p>This type of zig-zag motion of colloidal particles is called <strong>Brownian movement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>b) on the basis of amount of solute<\/strong>:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Unsaturated solution <\/strong>&#8212; A solution which has lesser amount of solute that it can dissolve at a given temperature is known as unsaturated solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturated Solution<\/strong> A solution which has maximum amount of solute that it can dissolve at a given temperature is known as saturated solution<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supersaturated solution<\/strong> A solution which can dissolve amount of solute by increasing temperature saturated solution is known as supersaturated solution.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>c) on the basis of nature of solvent<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aqueous solution<\/strong> The solution in which the solvent is water is known as aqueous solution<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Aqueous solution <\/strong>The solution in which the solvent is other than water (ether, alcohol or aceton) known as non-aqueous solution.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Physical_Chemical_Changes\"><\/span><strong>6. Physical &amp; Chemical Changes<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Physical changes<\/strong> &#8211; Changes that do not result in the production of a new substance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you melt a block of ice, you still have <span class=\"cke_widget_wrapper cke_widget_inline cke_widget_selected\"><span class=\"math-tex cke_widget_element\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elpiscart.com\/cgi-bin\/mathtex.cgi?{H_2}O\" \/><\/span><\/span>\u00a0at the end of the change.<\/li>\n<li>If you break a bottle, you still have glass.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Examples <\/strong>: melting, freezing, condensing, breaking, crushing, cutting, and bending.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chemical changes<\/strong> &#8211; Changes that result in the production of another substance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As in the case of autumn leaves, a change in color is a clue to indicate a chemical change.<\/li>\n<li>a half eaten apple that turns brown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>7.
