In addition to this common exam, students who wish to challenge themselves can also opt to appear for a <em>higher-level (advanced) exam<\/em> in these subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbseacademic.nic.in\/web_material\/CurriculumMain27\/SecPart1\/Curriculum_SecP1_2026-27.pdf\">CBSE curriculum document<\/a>, the <em>Mathematics and Science Advanced<\/em> papers will be optional and designed for students interested in studying topics beyond the standard syllabus. These exams will be based on a <em>separate, more advanced textbook<\/em> and will primarily include <em>HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions<\/em> to assess deeper understanding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get Model Question Papers and related study material on Advanced Maths and Science, you can install the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=in.techchefs.MyCBSEGuide\">myCBSEguide app<\/a> or access it on the <a href=\"https:\/\/mycbseguide.com\/dashboard\/\">myCBSEguide<\/a> website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_information_on_Advanced_Maths_and_Science\"><\/span>More information on Advanced Maths and Science<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Basic Maths<\/em> will be discontinued from the session <em>2027\u201328<\/em> in Class X<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Mathematics and Science \u2013 Standard Level<\/em> will be <em>compulsory<\/em> for all students, with an <em>80-mark annual examination<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An <em>Advanced Level<\/em> in Maths and Science is being introduced as a <em>purely optional<\/em> paper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Advanced exam will be of <em>25 marks<\/em> and based on <em>HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will cover <em>additional content beyond the standard syllabus<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The duration of the Advanced exam will be <em>1 hour<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s Understand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2060Nature &#8211; It\u2019s optional<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duration &#8211; 1 Hour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marks &#8211; 25 Marks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2060\u2060Difficulty &#8211; HOTS questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Content &#8211; Additional Topics (other than textbook)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2060\u2060Pass percentage &#8211; 50% marks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marks in Report Card &#8211; No, only mentioned PASSED, Advanced level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calculated in percentage &#8211; No, because marks are NOT provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mentioned in the report card &#8211; Yes if the score is 50% or above, else not mentioned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If failed &#8211; Nothing will be mentioned in the report card. So, it\u2019s a safe game.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exam date and duration &#8211; Normal Maths will be 3 hours, and you will get an additional 1 hour to attempt this test after that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Maths_Advanced_and_Science_Advanced\"><\/span>Maths Advanced and Science Advanced<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All students, whether they choose the Advanced level or not, will appear for a common final examination\u2014either the Board examination in Class X or the school-based annual examination in Class IX\u2014of 80 marks with a duration of 3 hours. In addition to this, students who opt for the Advanced level will take an extra examination of 25 marks, conducted for 1 hour, which will be based on higher-level prescribed content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, the examination in Mathematics and Science will be offered at two levels\u2014<em>Standard and Advanced<\/em> in Class IX (from 2026\u201327 onwards), and <em>Mathematics Advanced and Science Advanced<\/em> in Class X (from 2027\u201328 onwards). Students will have the flexibility to choose the Advanced level in <em>none, one, or both subjects<\/em>, i.e., they may opt for <em>no Advanced subject, only Maths Advanced, only Science Advanced, or both Maths and Science Advanced<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Passing_Criteria\"><\/span>Passing Criteria<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates who secure <em>50% or above<\/em> in the optional Advanced Examination will have a remark recorded in their marksheet stating that <em>\u201cThe Advanced Level has been successfully cleared\u201d<\/em> (wording may vary). However, the marks obtained in the Advanced Examination will <em>not be included in the overall aggregate or total score<\/em>. In case a candidate scores below the prescribed criteria, <em>no mention of the Advanced Level<\/em> will be made in the marksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Internal_Assessment\"><\/span>Internal Assessment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-level structure will <em>not be applicable<\/em> to the <em>20-mark internal assessments<\/em> in Mathematics and Science conducted at the <em>school level in Class X<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Maths_Basic_Discontinued\"><\/span>Maths Basic Discontinued<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From the academic session <em>2026\u201327<\/em>, the existing two-level scheme of <em>Mathematics Basic and Mathematics Standard<\/em> will be discontinued.
