There are two\u00a0types of test ie Formative and Summative assessment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Formative Assessment:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need work<\/li>\n<li>help faculty recognize where students are struggling and address problems immediately<\/li>\n<li>Conducted 4 times a year, they carry 40% weightage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Summative Assessment:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>summative assessment is provided to\u00a0<em>evaluate students learning<\/em>\u00a0skill at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark<\/li>\n<li>It is a 3 hour test, conducted twice a year.<\/li>\n<li>Each summative is conducted after 2 formatives and each carry a weightage of 30%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We should be thankful to the recommendations of the\u00a0Kothari Commission, National Policy on Education and National Curriculum Frame Work which\u00a0make\u00a0it flexible for students and generate the interest in learning.
