Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced Examination Reforms and Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation(CCE) in its schools since the academic year 2009?10\u00a0 and the detailed scheme has already been intimated to all Heads of schools vide CBSE\u2019s previous circulars.<\/p>\n
The scheme is in operation in all CBSE affiliated schools.\u00a0\u00a0 As per the scheme, four Formative Assessments and two Summative Assessments would be held in an academic year.\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 first\u00a0\u00a0 Summative Assessment\u00a0\u00a0 (SA\u00ad I)\u00a0\u00a0 for\u00a0 this\u00a0\u00a0 term\u00a0 for\u00a0 Classes\u00a0\u00a0 IX\u00a0 and\u00a0 X\u00a0 is\u00a0\u00a0 scheduled\u00a0 to be\u00a0 conducted\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 second half\u00a0 of\u00a0 September,\u00a0 2011.<\/p>\n
Under the School Based Summative Assessment?I, the students will be tested internally based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n
a)\u00a0 Syllabus and design of the Examination Question Paper in different subjects for Classes IX and X Summative Assessment(s) will be the same as circulated by the Board\u00a0 earlier.\u00a0 The same is also avai lable on CBSE website www.cbse.nic.in under Examination Link.<\/p>\n
b)\u00a0 As was done earlier, the Summative Assessment?I will be in the\u00a0 form of a pen?paper test conducted by the schools themselves.<\/p>\n
c)\u00a0\u00a0 In order to ensure standards, the Question Paper Bank in different subjects would be sent by the Board so as to reach schools well\u00a0 in time.<\/p>\n
d) Evaluation of answer scripts will be done by the school teachers themselves on the basis of the Marking Scheme provided by the Board. The school may use the Sahodaya School Cluster for spot evaluation so that teachers from other schools are also involved, if they so wish.<\/p>\n
e) There will be random verification of the assessment procedures\u00a0 of schools by the Board officials\/nominees appointed by the Board.<\/p>\n
4. It has been decided to provide Question Paper Bank for\u00a0 English Communicative,\u00a0\u00a0 English\u00a0 Language\u00a0 &\u00a0 Literature,\u00a0\u00a0 Hindi \u00adA,\u00a0\u00a0 Hindi \u00adB,\u00a0 Mathematics,\u00a0\u00a0 Science,\u00a0\u00a0 Social\u00a0\u00a0 Science\u00a0 and\u00a0 Communicative\u00a0 Sanskrit .<\/p>\n
In respect of other subjects\/languages, the schools will administer their own question papers based on Sample Question Paper pattern available on the Board\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
5. The Board will be sending Compact Disc (CD) containing Quest ion Paper Bank for Classes IX & X and the school may:<\/p>\n
i)\u00a0\u00a0 pick up one question paper for each subject.<\/p>\n
OR<\/p>\n
ii)\u00a0\u00a0 mix and match the paper by using different questions\/sections from different sets of question papers and prepare a question paper based on Board\u2019s sample paper, design and blue print.<\/p>\n
OR<\/p>\n
iii)\u00a0\u00a0 prepare their own question papers as per sample paper, design and blue print available on CBSE\u2019s website (www.cbse.nic.in).\u00a0 However, in case the school prepares its own question papers, the question papers and marking scheme so prepared should be emailed to the Board\u00a0 (email\u00a0\u00a0 id:\u00a0\u00a0 eoscience@live.com) for its verification within a week of conduct of the respective papers.<\/p>\n
iv)\u00a0\u00a0 The Board plans to dispatch the CDs containing question papers for classes IX and X to all schools so as to reach by \u00a010th\u00a0 September,\u00a0 2011.<\/p>\n
v)\u00a0\u00a0 Every\u00a0 School,\u00a0\u00a0 Sahodaya\u00a0 Cluster(s)\u00a0\u00a0 or\u00a0 City\u00a0 may\u00a0 design\u00a0 their own date\u00adsheet\u00a0\u00a0 for Classes\u00a0\u00a0 IX and X examination accordingly.<\/p>\n
6. The schools need to take out the print of the desired question paper (refer para 5 above) and, thereafter, the required number of prints\/copies may be made at the school level.\u00a0 These question papers must be kept in the safe custody carefully.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0 The\u00a0 schools\u00a0\u00a0 will\u00a0\u00a0 conduct\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0 SA\u00ad I\u00a0\u00a0 for\u00a0 Classes\u00a0\u00a0 IX\u00a0 and\u00a0 X\u00a0 during the\u00a0 second half\u00a0 of\u00a0 September,\u00a0 2011<\/p>\n
8.\u00a0\u00a0 Another\u00a0\u00a0 CD\u00a0 containing\u00a0 the\u00a0 Marking\u00a0 Scheme\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0 main subjects\u00a0 would be\u00a0 sent\u00a0\u00a0 to\u00a0 every\u00a0 school\u00a0\u00a0 separately\u00a0 in due\u00a0 course\u00a0 and will\u00a0 reach\u00a0 the\u00a0 schools\u00a0 well\u00a0\u00a0 in\u00a0 time.<\/p>\n
9.\u00a0\u00a0 The answer\u00a0\u00a0 books\u00a0\u00a0 should be evaluated by teachers\u00a0\u00a0 as\u00a0\u00a0 per the marking scheme provided by the Board.<\/p>\n
10.\u00a0\u00a0 KINDLY\u00a0 NOTE\u00a0 THAT\u00a0 ANSWER\u00a0 BOOKS\u00a0 OF\u00a0 SCHOOL\u00a0 BASED\u00a0 SA\u00ad I\u00a0 FOR\u00a0 CLASSES\u00a0 IX\u00a0 AND\u00a0 X\u00a0 SHOULD\u00a0 NOT\u00a0 BE\u00a0 SENT\u00a0 TO\u00a0 THE\u00a0 BOARD\u00a0 UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.<\/p>\n
However these must be preserved and kept in the safe custody at the school for at least a period of three years (in case of Class IX) and two years (in case of Class X) along with question papers and Marking Scheme for any verification by the Board subsequently.<\/p>\n
11.\u00a0\u00a0 It may be noted again that the question papers for Classes IX and X have been designed by the Board and are being sent to schools with the purpose of maintaining standards.\u00a0 Depending upon the feedback and suggestions from the stakeholders, the Board may reconsider this policy in future, if need be.<\/p>\n
This may be brought to the notice of all teachers, students and parents of Classes IX and X.<\/p>\n
