CBSE has issued a circular to all affiliated schools instructing them to offer additional subject in class 9 and 10 only if they have adequate infrastructure and teachers. The detailed circular is provided below.<\/p>\n
As you are aware that as per scheme of studies, a candidate is required to offer the following subjects at secondary School Examination (Class X) :<\/p>\n
(1) and (2)<\/strong> Two languages out of \u2013 (3) <\/strong>Mathematics<\/p>\n (4)<\/strong> Science<\/p>\n (5) <\/strong>Social Science<\/p>\n (6)<\/strong> Work Education or Pre?Vocational Education<\/p>\n (7)<\/strong> Art Education<\/p>\n (8) <\/strong>Physical and Health Education<\/p>\n NOTE :\u00a0 Hindi and English must be one of the two languages to be studied in Class IX and X.\u00a0 Hindi and English can also be offered simultaneously.\u00a0 In Hindi and English, two courses have been provided for Class IX and X keeping in view the varying background of the student.\u00a0 A student may either opt Communicative\u00a0 English (subject code 101) or English Language and Literature (Subject Code 184).\u00a0 Similarly, in Hindi, a student may either opt for Hindi A (Code 085) or Hindi B (002).<\/p>\n Students may also offer any one of the following as an additional subject :<\/p>\n \nLanguage other than the two compulsory languages (offered as subjects of study) It has been observed that a number of schools allow their\u00a0\u00a0 and candidates to offer an additional subject and the same is entered against their names in the List of Candidates.\u00a0 However, it is understood, in a number of cases, the students are not taught the above subjects in the schools.\u00a0\u00a0 This practice is against the norms of the Board.\u00a0\u00a0 A school can offer only those subjects for which the school is having necessary infrastructure i.e. a qualified teacher and other facilities like laboratory etc and the candidate must be taught complete course of each subject including the additional subject.<\/p>\n \nHeads of Schools are instructed to\u00a0 ensure that candidates may be allowed to offer an additional (sixth) subject only if the school has necessary facilities such as\u00a0 a\u00a0 qualified\u00a0 teacher\u00a0 and\u00a0 laboratories\u00a0 etc.\u00a0 and the\u00a0 additional\u00a0 (sixth)\u00a0 subject must\u00a0 be\u00a0 given\u00a0 proper\u00a0 attention\u00a0 by\u00a0 the\u00a0 schools\u00a0 in case the students have been permitted to offer the subject in classes IX and X.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
