The Potential energy of a body is calculated using the formula
P. E. = mgh
where m= mass of the body
g= acceleration due to gravity ( you can take it as 10 ms-2 for simple calculations otherwise 9.8 ms-2)
h= height of the body
In this question we are given
Mass of body, m=10kg
Height of body, h=10 m
Using the formula,
P. E. =10*9.8*10=980J
