Root pressure is the positive hydrostatic pressure that develops in the roots and helps in the movement of water up the xylem in plants. It develops when the minerals are actively absorbed by root hairs called active transport.
This active transport of minerals inside the root cells creates concentration gradient between soil and root cells i.e inside root cells solution become concentrated as compared to soil. The water rushes inside the roots from soil that creates pressure in roots called root pressure.
