Usually the in the life cycle of a haploid organism meiosis doesn't take place but in some of the fungi and algae have a temporary diploid stage in their life cycle from the fusion of two cells arisen due to mitosis. This fused cells are diploid which then undergo meiosis. The end result of this process is a spore.
