The process of digestion starts in our mouth when we start chewing food(in most cases). Most of the saliva helps breakdown all the starch and other compounds to sugars. So whenever you see and smell some delicious food your brain perceives you will eat it and hence asks the salivary glands to release the saliva in advance which we call mouth-watering.
