The alimentary canal is 9m from the oesophagus to the ****. The bolus enters down from the oesophagus to the stomach. After stomach carries its role, the chyme travels into the intestine which is near about 7.5m coiled structure which enters to large intestine. It is further differentiates into four lobes causing  length of digestive system to 9m

Alimentary canal is longer but fits in our body as it is of different shapes and sizes at different levels.
