Question Must be : If a + b = 5 and 3a + 2b = 20, then 3a + b will be

Ans. 4) 25

a + b = 5  .............(1)

3a +  2b =  20    .........(2)

From (1), a = 5 - b

put this value in (2), we get

=> 3( 5 - b ) + 2b = 20

=> 15 - 3b + 2b = 20

=> - b = 5

=> b = -5

put values of b in (1), we get

=> a - 5 = 5

=> a = 10

Now, 3a + b = 3(10 ) - 5

= 30 - 5 = 25
