What does it mean when  M. Hamel says

"Ah! That's the great problem with Alsace; she puts off learning till tomorrow".

Ans. M. Hamel observes that the great trouble with Alsace was that it put off learning until tomorrow. It means that the people of that town did not perform their work when it was required to be done and kept it off until later. The people of Alsace would not reprimand little Franz for not speaking or writing in one's own language yet calling himself a Frenchman. It was due to the fact that they had a great deal to reproach themselves with. The parents were not anxious enough for their children to learn and instead preferred to put them to work on a farm or at mills so that they could have more money.
