Ans. Distance between the object and the lens (u )= -10cm
Focal length (f) = 20 cm
Distance between the image and the lens v = ?
Using Lens Formula
=>
=>
=>
=>
=> v = -20 cm
The image is formed on the same side as the object and since v is negative the image is erect and virtual and is formed at a distance 20 cm in front of the lens.
We know that
height of the object ho = 4 cm
=>
=>
=>
height of image = 8 cm

DIVERGENT LENS: CONCAVE LENS-
f=-20cm
v=-10cm because a concave lens always forms a virtual image on the same side as the object.
ho=4cm
1/f = 1/v - 1/u [ Lens Formula]
-1/20 = - 1/u - 1/10
-1/u = 1/10 - 1/20
-1/u = (2-1)/20
-1/u = 1/20
u= - 20 cm
m = v/u = hi/ho
1/2 = hi/4
hi = 2cm
