The salient features of the CBSE Proficiency Test 2011 are as follows:

a) Only those students are allowed to take the proposed test(s) who have applied through the schools and paid requisite fee.

b) A student will  have  to  appear  from  the  same  city/place where  his/ her school is located. The examination will be conducted in the same centre as it was for Class X/XII Board Examination.

c) Question Paper in every subject will carry 100 marks.

d)  The  timings  of  the  test will  be  from  10.30  a.m.  to  01.00  p.m.  in  each subject.

e) It will be a Paper?Pen Test. All questions will be of Multiple Choice type. A  student will  be  required  to mark  the  answers  in  a given OMR  sheet with blue/black ball point pen only.

f)  General  guidelines,  sample  questions  in  every  subject  and  information about  overall  design  of  the  question  paper  are  available  on  CBSE website.  Please note that  instead of Paper Pencil Test, as stated  in the Guidelines, it will be a Paper?Pen Test.  This important change may be brought to the notice of all students and parents.

g) The Board will  issue Admit Card to every student appearing  in the test. These Admit Cards will be made  available  at  the  respective  schools  in which  a  student  was  studying  in  class  X.   Also,  the  Roll  No.  of  the student will remain the same as that of Secondary Examination.

h) The test in every subject will be based on classes IX?X CBSE syllabus.

i) Negative marks will be awarded for wrong answers  in different subjects as per the general guidelines and sample questions for Proficiency Test. More than one answer indicated against a question will also be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

j) Students  appearing  in  the  test will  be  issued  a  certificate  by  the Board indicating percentile rank.

h) The Roll Number to the students would remain the same as that of Class X Examination.  There is a possibility that Roll numbers would not be in continuity and there would be certain gaps as all the students have not applied for the Proficiency Test.  Accordingly, you may kindly make the seating  arrangement.   However,  Admit  Cards  are  being  sent  to  the students through the school which has sponsored the students.
