Class 10 Science CCE Syllabus 2010-2011 for Term 1 and Term 2

CCE Syllabus for class 10 Science for session 2010-2011 prescribed for First Term (April 2010 to September 2010) and Second Term (October 2010 to March 2011) issued by CBSE, New Delhi.

As per CCE guidelines the syllabus of Science for classes IX & X has been divided term wise. The units specified for each term shall be assessed through both Formative and Summative assessments. In each term, there will be two formative assessments each carrying 10% weightage. The summative assessment in the first term will carry 20% weightage and the summative assessment in the second term will carry 40% weightage. Hands on practical examination will be conducted through formative assessment once in every term with 20% weightage of total term marks. Assessment of Practical skills through MCQ will carry 20% weightage in every term end summative assessment.

First Term (April 2010 to September 2010) =>

There will be TWO FORMATIVE and ONE SUMMATIVE test in first term. Formative assessments (F1 and F2) will carry total 20 marks (10 marks each) and Summative assessment (S1) will carry 20 Marks.

Thus CCE first term will carry overall 40 Marks (10+10+20=40).

The following topics will be assessed in First Term:

Chemical Substances
Chemical reaction; Acids, bases and salts, Metals and Non Metals

World of living
Life process; control and coordination in animals and plants

Effects of current
Magnetic effects of currents

Natural Resources
Sources of Energy

Second Term (October 2010 to March 2011) =>

There will be TWO FORMATIVE and ONE SUMMATIVE test in second term. Formative assessments (F3 and F4) will carry total 20 marks (10 marks each) and Summative assessment (S2) will carry 40 Marks.

Thus CCE second term will carry overall 60 Marks (10+10+40=60).

The following topics will be assessed in Second Term:

Chemical Substances
Carbon compounds; Periodic classification of elements

World of living
Reroduction; Heridity and evolution

Natural Phenomena

Natural Resources
Conservation of natural resources; the regional environment; our environment

  49. I am totally confused due to new pattern that cbse has introduced for class 10.So I want to know that board exams will now be held for class10in year2010 or not.One thing more i want to know that if the board exams will be held then what will be the syllabus ,it will remain half or whole.

  62. samir,many students are confused like u. this time board exam will be conducted in 2 ways. in both exams date time,Q PAPER WILL BE SAME,if ur school is a secondary school it will be evaluated by the board,if ur school is a sr.secondary school it will be evaluated by the school and result will be sent to the board.

    syllabus is half only.

I  am tatally disappointed by new changes i class 1o CBSE .All schools are different some teachers want special favours in form of tution money etc.We are indians at each and every step we have to fight with existing corruption how can we expect  justice for class 10 kids when there is no uniformity in  checking and marking system.Only few schools are giving very good marks but mostly to some only.It is not easy to change school at this time.this change is to give undue favour to CBSE schools and to enhance power of teachers.but similarly parents and kids should not bother about less marks which are given to most of class 10 students.This system has lowered the importance of marks  so all  CBSE kids should not bother about marks .They will get more than E grade.Only aim for Competition  foget importance of marks.
    I think  class 12CBSE  board will abolish now  so one has to think  about this  from now.

    cbse has to only show that india has 100% literacy. but what will the student get by this method

    1- we are confused by this process of examination
    2- there is no about any competition behind it.
    3- please stop this bad kind of examination…
    and formalities……..
    if all the people would be literate who want be a peon show we are going for revolt next time……..

  88. we want sample papers because teachers are teaching with guides and we can;t understand what they are teaching no teacher is showing interest on subjects

  90. not useful,     syllabus is not provided for fa’s teachers doesnt tell the syllabus on time for 10 to 20 days they also doesnt know that what is coming in papers nd what is not nd u r also not interested in telling the syllabus so what we will prepare 

  92. Sir i am a student of class x. I want all the subjects syallabus for 1st & 2nd term. GIVE THE SAMPLE PAPERS OF ALL THE SUBJECTS . PLEASE GIVE THE CHAPTERS OF ENGISH , WE ARE NOT GETTING THE BOOK IT IS BECOMING VERY PROBLEM.and this year there will be board or it is optional or we have to change the center and give. sir please send as early as possible.

  99. need to know if the Board exam wll have the full year’s portion or the later half, do all schools follow the same portion & will the 9th standard & 10th standard grades be added to the 10th standard final grades if we give the board exam
